A CONSCIOUS ORGANIZATION

BARTS® HEAD OFFICE

The BARTS® Head Office was built in 2012 with sustainability and efficiency kept in mind. Our Warehouse is located in the same building as the Head Office. We have a Thermal Energy Storage (TES) and an automated system that integrates logistics, buying, sales and finance to save time, working hours and CO2.

PACKAGING

As we have so many different products, a lot of extra packaging materials are needed to make sure the products arrive in the best way possible at your doorstep. In the last years, we made huge progress in making these materials with the least possible impact on the environment.

Each product is provided with a packaging or a hook to be nicely presented in stores. It also needs hangtags to provide information about the product, such as the barcode or special features of the product. As these elements are indispensable, we made sure to make them low-impact. We replaced all the plastic components to paper, and only use FSC® certified paper. All these trimmings are recyclable.

At the factory, our products are packed in a plastic polybag. Instead of 1 product per polybag, we pack most of our products per 3 to reduce the amount of plastic. Besides, all of our polybags are made of variously 50% to 100% recycled plastic and can be recycled again.

In 2012, we started using new (reusable) packing boxes to limit the use of cardboard in our supply chain. Because of the measurements, our products are transported more efficient which reduces the CO2 emission. The cardboard is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, reusable and recyclable. We have saved over 224.000 kg of cardboard because the boxes are used all over our supply chain; from the suppliers to our warehouse and to our customers.

WASTE

At our Head Office and Warehouse, we have reduced the amount of paper used for printing and for envelops by 80% compared to 2015. We are more conscious about the use of cardboard and paper on every department and it is being reused as much as possible. We recycle all of our paper, cardboard, plastic, VFG-waste and the remaining waste through RENEWI.
